We are Amelia and Clemmie, two sisters who grew up by the Solent: sailing, swimming and shell seeking on the beach. Sadly, our shell treasure hunts evolved into beach clean ups and we noticed the amount of plastic increasing. We started to question, how could we reuse these things and not put them back into the oceans?
For years, we have been wanting to make belts to smarten up children’s shorts, trousers, dungarees and skirts, for all seasons, for both boys and girls. With a beautiful belt, any outfit is transformed from scruffy to smart - an amazing transformation!
Upon learning about the remarkable work of REPREVE® who turn plastic bottles (from beach clean ups and landfill) into yarn, PELLEGRINE was born.
We wanted our children to have belts with quality and sustainability. We wanted to educate our children about our planet, plastic and our oceans, so we carefully designed the belts you see before you today. Before becoming Mummies, we both worked for creative agencies in London.
The name Pellegrine is pronounced with a silent e. It evokes the French preppy feel of our belts. Pellegrine is named after our French holidays as children, with endless beach treasure seeking days and visits to a turtle sanctuary, hence our Pellegrine turtle logo embossed on our belts.
Each belt comprises of 3 PLASTIC BOTTLES and we pledge that £1 from the sale of each belt goes to our chosen charity: The Marine Conservation Society, via Work for Good. It is the UK’s leading charity for the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife. Together, let us help to clean up our oceans and allow marine animals, like turtles, a better chance of survival.
Please Help Protect our Oceans for Future Generations.
We are just beginning our journey and hope to extend our collection in time, so please do follow us on Instagram and we will share our progress with you.
